Kingston Race and Equalities Council (KREC) is a registered charity working in the Royal Borough of Kingston to promote race and other equalities issues on behalf of Black and Ethnic Minority individuals and organisations. KREC is a multi-racial and multi-cultural organisation. Founded in 1976 under the name Kingston Group for Racial Understanding and Equality, KREC has been at the forefront of promoting and advancing equality, diversity, justice and rights issues in the borough.
KREC achieved charitable status in 1990 and was registered as a limited company in 2008. Over the years, KREC has worked with its community partners to deliver a vision that has made a
positive difference to people's lives in the Royal Borough of Kingston
upon Thames.
Mission
KREC's mission is to support victims of racial harassment and discrimination and to promote racial equality in the Royal Borough of Kingston.
Objectives
- To work towards the elimination of racial discrimination and associated inequalities;
- To promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different racial groups.
- to address the human rights and needs of all communities
