Do campaigns like WWF's Earth Hour make any difference? Will you be turning off your lights?

I turned my lights off and sat with candles. Didn't look like many other people did in my street though.
It seemed to get reasonable coverage in the media and the pictures from around the world with landmarks in darkness were quite effective. I liked that it was happening in other counties but am not entirely clear what it was trying to achieve?

I was away this year but did turn all the lights off last year and sat with candles, bottle of wine and dearly beloved for two hours as we enjoyed the first hour so much. Contempleted throwing the mains switch to make sure everything was off but decided hassle of reprogramming, rebooting and restarting so many machines and clocks was too much. Which did make me realise how many things are running permanently - and I guess making people think about how much enrgy we use and the impact that it has on the earth is one of the aims of earth hour
