You will benefit most from this course if you are applying to funders for a new project or re-applying to begin a new cycle of on an existing project, and are: •wondering which tools and techniques to use to identify the needs of your target group •wanting to set realistic and clear aims and objectives for your project to secure funding. |
It will help you to think about all the key elements of a well-designed and well-managed project. These include: identifying the needs of your target group, setting clear aims and objectives, and devising a monitoring and evaluation plan that meets the information requirements of your key stakeholders.
This is a useful pre-cursor to our ‘How to demonstrate outcomes’ series of training (1, 2 and 3 day courses).
Course outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will:
- understand what to consider when carrying out a needs assessment
- be better able to select the most appropriate tools to assess needs of their target group
- be aware of some of the common difficulties and pitfalls in needs assessment, and how to avoid
- be clearer about the distinction between aims and objectives
- explore how to set aims and objectives for their project
- have developed the basic elements of their project plan
