Subject: Good Governance Code - consultation opens
The Good Governance Code is being refreshed. Have your say as part of the consultation process which ends on 24 November.
The committee have come up with revised principles under the following statement: "A good Board will provide good leadership by...." and are keen to hear the views of others.

I don't know that it is useful to make such a meal of this.
We already have the Code, which people are gradually referring to and applying; this latest version uses different vocabulary and has a different set of principles etc. It is just confusing, especially for the management committees of small charities that are hard pressed to do anything other than run their organisation! I think we should stick with the original and get it more widely known.
I don't imagine I am the only one who thinks this, so I would be interested to see some other responses to this.

Our Trustee Body has used the Code to good effect and i would recommend it to any new Trustee or Trustee Board that is analysing it's own performance. It has helped our Board to focus and restructure, looking for the skillsets they have identified are missing. It may need a review, but is certainly a valuable document already.

Also, the NCVO member Association for Project Management publishes three short guides on the particular issue of governance applied to projects, called respectively Directing Change, Co-Directing Change and Sponsoring Change.
