Subject: Should Sunita tell Joan?

Sunita is in a difficult position - the office gossip about Joan is spreading and she feels that she should know about it. Sunita is a little scared of Joan and knows that she won't react well. Is it her duty to tell or should she keep quiet?

Have your say about this Millcaster story about the affair.

I can understand that Sunita might feel that informing Joan about the rumours is a career limiting move.  This is a time when a little political sense is really important.  There are ways of presenting information obliquely rather than directly challernging.   Such as mentioning that there is gossip going round about someone is seeing too much of a trustee and it is causing some comment in the office without directly referring to who the 'someone' is.  Or could she find someone who is closer to Joan, such as Pam,  who could mention the rumours?

Good thinking lifelonglearner - avoiding directly challenging Joan might be the best option. Sunita is a little frightened of Joan and really doesn't want to feel the brunt of her anger. It might make her working life harder in the future if Joan feels that Sunita is accusing her of having an affair.
