About right
"managing upward" / perspective conflict / the small things that grow into hidden conflict and likes/dislikes. Issues such as these are hard for a manager to grasp and even harder to address fairly.

I really like the stories - they get you immediately involved, grab attention and pose challenge.
I'd love it if a few of the future stories could reflect the racial diversity of Millcaster. Not just in terms of simple things like names cultural background/assumptions, but also the challenges faced by individuals and organisations.

This really captures the imagination....but like all soap operas, I now want to see how the story unfolds, and it MUST end up in some kind of resolution or summary of what finally happens ....
.... even if the end result is a wrong decision, that causes further outcry from all our contributors (ie, Siobhan goes to prision for 3 years).

One really positive aspect of the missing laptop story: it reinforces that what you should have done in the past to avert things going wrong, what you need to do now to get out of the crisis, and what you should do next to stop it recurring, are distinct questions, each with a very different set of answers, and that's characteristic of many management crises

I'm impressed: they're plausible, & the characters are conveyed concisely. I think there could be a bit more complexity to their reactions - some v good instincts as well as some that are clearly inadequate. (I'd be seriously worried about this organisation). But the complexity of the solutions (or otherwise) is great.
Other scenarios: the staff member who's consistently rude & patronising to colleagues and/or line manager, but good at the job; the manager who works all the hours god gives & has no patience with staff who don't do the same; director/Chair clashes; handling an unfair dismissal claim..
