Thanks for an interesting and informative tool kit. I help a charity which is really struggling with diversity so it was good to hear some suggestions.
I like the idea of a 'buddying' scheme: do you have any examples of charities who've done this successfully and can pass on some tips?
Hi Khari
Glad you found the toolkit helpful. I am Chair at Charities Evaluation Services. We offer all our new trustees the chance to have a buddy if they want one. If they do – and most say yes- then we match them with a more established member of the Board who meets them informally and is happy to help them find their feet and answer as many questions as they want to ask. We also have a more formal induction programme. The benefit of the buddy approach is the informality - the idea is to make the new trustee feel at home.
Best wishes
Ros
